I have to say this is such a unique collection of stories that all center around the Final Draft Tavern The prologue at the beginning definitely hooked me There is a great fire in London in 1675 and the only surviving building in sight was the Tavern The Marchand family and their cat Whiskers are the keeper of the Tavern What was going on her? Magic? Time travel? There was no way to understand until I began reading the stories The first story by Mari Christie takes us to the eve of the War between the States and President Lincoln Determined to have the ear of the President Harry a newspaperman gets his attention at the backroom of the Tavern There is some interesting discussion and arm wresting involved The strange happening is that the tavern is now across the ocean and in a different timeframe If that does not capture your interest the next story Burning Bridges will This takes place in the Tavern as the Russian Empire is taking over America I loved the story of the Highwayman Takes an Offer Again in London where a gentleman is robbing the rich and giving to the poor Meeting in the Taverns backroom he is confronted with the Irish gangs who are taking over Politics come into play and our highwayman needs to move on In a Handful of Dust the Tavern is not near a bakery and is being used to help immigrants come to America and aid in their needs In another story the Tavern turns up again Now being utilized to help Immigrants with a backstory of two people who meet and take in the cause Another story with a photojournalist who is so weary from the wrongs in the world but he keeps using his pictures to fight the injustice The last story by Jude Knight takes us to Boston in 2093 switching to a world under a snow dome where society was almost doomed Whiskers the cat leads Verity and her uncle through a time passage back to 1675 London to save them This was such a unique collection of short stories written by the very gifted writers of SpeakEasy Scribes You will be fascinated from page one until the end
