It read like a twelve year old girl wrote it Ditto for the heroine's maturity level Not a story I could get into at all view spoilerOur recent college grad h enters the workforce as the personal assistant to the steel manufacturing tycoon H Within a week she is on a first name basis with all the major players of this conglomerate and unilaterally making crucial decisions on going to price war with a rival company When her employer finds out she acted without his permission or authority he is simply delighted and promotes her LOL Only in HPlandia folksAlso within days the h and H are getting super close h is uasi moved into H's apartment although it's platonic supposedly it's too far for h to return to her own home after 12 hour working days H keeps kissing her on the forehead and making her hot chocolate in bed as ANY super busy tycoon fighting the mysterious sabotage of his company would do for his personal assistant who was hired five minutes agoNot that h doesn't pull in her weight Along with her MBA she comes fully euipped with a degree from the Detective Latoya Jackson Online Correspondence School for Private Investigation Trying to find the culprit behind all the sabotaging going on at H's various manufacturing plants she comes up with three possible motives 1 Fear 2 Hate and 3 Envy This brilliant deductive reasoning points to the only suspect possible H's ex girlfriend Bravo Detective LaToyaIn between bouts of detectiving multi tasker H is also trying to psycho analyze heroine who is emotionally distant because she grew up in foster care leading to epic blow ups between the two including tears shoulder shaking and punishing kisses Wow this work environment sure is excitingH and h are invited at his ex girlfriend's house for a dinner party yes the same one who has been meticulously planning and carrying out arson strikes and price warring at the tender age of 24 In the middle of the party the ex manoeuvers the hero into a room upstairs where NATURALLY minutes later heroine follows and finds them half naked in each other's arms Now a Jane Donnelly or Charlotte Lamb heroine would have icily snapped some sarcastic remark and then walked out with her head held high and not a hair out of her chignon no one aware how she was mastering the inner turmoil inside of her This heroine however despite being emotionally dead inside slaps a hand on her anguished mouth and holds the other one in front of her as if to block out the horror of the scene before her and proceeds to keep standing there frozen like a silent movie actress holding a pose to allow the audience to read the dialogue card inserted in the movie reelAs if the plot wasn't bad enough the dialogue was so over the top melodramatic that it became unintentionally comical I just couldn't get into this story AT ALL Needless to say the heroine acts like a dumb brat to the bitter end and the OW gets no comeuppance Fin hide spoiler

What a delightful book the best part was how we saw the friendship develop between the hH They are boss and employee but they have a way of bantering with each other I loved The heroine was a very alone person having grown up in foster care and worked hard to educate herself I liked seeing how focused she was she also had great instincts for self preservation and was uite blind to emotional cues For example the hero's caring behaviour towards her and the silence that came later were uite easy to comprehend but it takes her a long while to understand it all and even a longer time to change a lifetime of habitsI liked how she said she needed time to allow love in her life I loved the writing style and the almost philosophical tone of the book

Very little romance The story was centered around competitive pressures in business particularly the steel industry and how a young MBA graduate rises to stardom within the company The story had great potential with an evil OW tragic accident etc But I never felt the connection or glue between Hh On top of that the author was unaware of the steel trading restrictions such as dumping which made the conflict unrealistic Oh wellsigh It's not exactly terrible I've read worse but it's not exactly great I kept on reading in the hopes that we would eventually get to great I did appreciate the author's writing style

Given that it's an old school romance written before I was born its surprisingly modern we have a heroine who's independent she's a business graduate to the point of being stand offish The hero runs a steel mill and I do love the beginning when the heroine retorts very nicely to the hero attitude when she goes to work for him Things do turn typical in the middle of the story which is something I don't like but even through the pain the HH struggle through their professional relationshipThe ending is melodramatic but I guess that's to be expected seeing as this book wouldn't have been published at that time if it hadn't been

The h was an absolute mess mentally The only thing distinctive about this book is the climactic scene engineered by the OW where you could actually feel something terrible about to happen because the OW was the kind that basically paralyzes the h with her supernatural seductive powers No I'm not saying this book turned into some sort of Sapphic lovefest I'm saying that the h effectively gave up in the face of the OW's superior femme fatality and just watched everything happen

This was not a romance it was a book about business and work intrigue

4 Stars Diana is a young woman whose determination and hard work has achieved professional success Having grown up abandoned in the foster care system she's isolated herself emotionally from everyone around her She's witty and enthusiastic and shows caring towards others but as soon as someone tries to cross one of her boundary lines she instinctively pulls herself back Alex is a man driven to succeed and having taken over a company on the brink of bankruptcy he built up a business that soon had few rivals When Diana hires on as Alex's right hand person she's overwhelmed with his passionate approach to everything in his life They work well together finding a level of camaraderie that uickly sparks into a very strong attraction Alex tries to act on this attraction but is shocked to find Diana doesn't believe in relationships and has no desire to become involved with anyone Diana's resolve to remain aloof falters though when a ruthless rival attempts to destroy everything Alex has worked so hard forThis is Ms Carpenter's debut with Harleuin and though a little rough around the edges she weaves a very compelling love story She has a uniue voice and remarkable talent for creating passionate dynamic personalities Ms Carpenter also has a delightful sense of humour that breathes life into her characters and makes the witty banter a pleasure to read I thoroughly enjoyed Alex and Diana's story

I'm a big fan of Thea Harrison so when I saw this was one of her older worlds as Amanda Carpenter I grabbed it A story about corporate sabotage with a difficult romance thrown into the mixThe characters were utterly unlikable with over the top reactions which means I just could not get into the this story This book was ok but not really for me I felt like I was reading about young tweens interacting For reviews check out Tome Tender's Book Blog or find us on Facebook

I picked this one up because I love Thea Harrison's Elder Races series and was curious about her early romance books A Deeper Dimension is a contemporary romance but written in 1984 when people were still using typewriters I remember that but a lot of you reading this do not It was a nice story with great characters I loved Diana a very strong woman who had never had a family and really did not understand love I wanted to hit Alex who just did not understand why Diana reacted as she did There was a really rough journey to their HEA but they finally did get together

This has been re released by Samhain but I didn't find that edition here yet Can certainly tell this was old school but I enjoyed the interaction Brought me back to reading and loving bossunderling romances Loved that she was a lot than the secretary and had to fight against stereotypes
