Nick Spinelli is a homicide detective who has just lost his partner the partner retired Because he is now the only one in the department without a partner he is temporarily reassigned to assist in the Child Services division of the Social Services DepartmentThe social worker he is assigned to assist is a beautiful woman Shannon O'Hara And she has the red hair to go with her name Unfortunately for Nick she doesn't take to him at all She feels he is cold and uncaring when it comes to children having to be removed from their homesBut Nick knows only too well what it's like to be a child in the systemNick is also helping his team investigate the murder of Santa Claus and then a Christmas Elf Shannon has been working part at the same store as an elf is she a suspect or is she next on a hit list? Nick is sent back to homicide undercover as the store Santa Claus He hopes to catch the killerAnd if he captures the heart of Shannon that would be okay tooI adore the characters Nick is a sweetheart has a smile to die for and a soft spot for Shannon His sense of humor is off the charts even when he's in trouble with his boss If he weren't so good at his job she'd probably fire him for insubordination Shannon has a tough job and a soft heart She knows there are children that absolutely need to be removed from their parents' care for one reason or another but it breaks her heart when she has toThis is a Romantic Suspense by a new author to me It's a short fast read only 124 pages It's not highly suspenseful but it is an entertaining way to spend an hour or two There are two other Nick Spinelli books that follow this one I'm looking forward to reading about Nick and Shannon's adventuresMany thanks to the author Melange Books LLC Netgalley for the digital copy of this book Opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own

When a playboy detective falls fast and hard for Santa's helper you'll be helpless to resist the fireworks that the two ignite More fun than a bushel of mistletoe COVERT EXPOSURE will have you laughing at Detective Spinelli's over the top reactions to the angelic Shannon To his utter horror homicide Detective Nick Spinelli has been temporarily transferred to the Child Services department for the holiday season Bewildered and frustrated Spinelli heads upstairs only to meet a green eyed vision in the form of caseworker Shannon O'Hara In no time flat Spinelli has pissed off the sweet creature getting on her bad side when he really wants to get her on her backsidepreferably with him on top Shannon can't understand why this cold and heartless man must work with her; he hasn't a clue how to handle these families But when a mall Santa and his elf are found dead part time Santa's helper Shannon turns into the next target terrifying both her and the sexy detective who's smitten with her Spinelli must pose as Santa in order to flush out the murderer and protect his woman no matter what As the two spend time together sparks of a different kind start flying and when danger threatens their new relationship Spinelli vows to do whatever it takes to protect Shannon COVERT EXPOSURE is book 1 in the Nick Spinelli Mystery series and can be read as a standalone It took me awhile to get into the story but once I did I really enjoyed myself Spinelli is hysterical; he's slightly neurotic and a lot in lust with Shannon He's a big bad detective yet his female captain the little children and Shannon all scare the crap out of him Spinelli thinks Shannon is this pure and innocent woman but when she lets loose her potty mouth it really made me chuckle She also has no problem putting the delectable detective in his place when he shows his jerky side While there was excellent character development of Spinelli I thought that Shannon remained pretty much a mystery throughout Spinelli grew as a person and became endearing to the reader while Shannon ended as an aloof unreadable woman The entire book was written from Spinelli's point of view with just a few brief snippets from Shannon's I hope we get a bit about her in future installments The actionsuspense element was well written though I would've preferred a bit sprinkled throughout the book I also felt a little cheated that there really wasn't much of a mystery as to who the bad guys were and what was exactly going on as we found out about everything way before the culmination The sex in COVERT EXPOSURE was pretty good though it took WAY too long to get to and uite frankly the sex in Spinelli's imagination was a bit hotter than their actual sex scene Their chemistry was terrific but it wasn't enough for this reader Additionally there were uite a few places where the editing could be improved and the second half of the story really dragged on the sentence structure becoming abrupt and less smooth That said because Spinelli is such a kick ass character I'm rating COVERT EXPOSURE a 4 I hope that Ms Clarizio continues Spinellli and Shannon's affair in future installments

I don't really read crime books Or much romance Unless it's YA and there are paranormal creatures involved So this book was a step away from my usual reading materialI loved Detective Spinelli he is a great character He's got a past and an attitude to match He means well but he's a little brash and impatient Actually I see a little of myself in SpinelliSpinelli's love interest Shannon I didn't care as much for She would cry at the drop of a dime She was absolutely a damsel She had her own strengths but she is the kind of woman who drives me crazy in real life My husband jokes that my heart is black and frozen Ha Maybe I'm the only one irritated by Shannon The adventure was fun but I felt like it was a little too uick I'd rather have had some twists and turns along the way The ending was very enjoyable This was a fun fairly uick read though I'll be sure to check out the rest of the books in this series when I have some free reading time FULL DISCLOSURE I do work for the company that publishes this book and I did design the cover

Spinelli has had a tough day First his mentor and father figure retires and then he is reassigned to the Child Services department But the bright spot in his day is when he meets his partner Shannon O’Hara His bright spot uickly becomes dark when they can’t seem to work together The they fight and hate each other the they start to feel for each other When the Santa and an Elf that Shannon works with at the Mall are found dead she is soon dragged into a case that Spinelli is working The closer Spinelli gets to both the killer and Shannon the tougher it is for him Can he manage to find the bad guy before they find Shannon?I really enjoyed this book Spinelli was a fantastically fun character It wasn’t just Spinelli though The story was a great story that unfortunately we could possibly find in the newspaper That aspect alone gave this story a level of realism With the realism the fun characters and the spicy love story between Shannon and Spinelli join together for a great book I am so glad this is only the first book in the series because I can’t wait to read the next book I definitely enjoyed the book the characters and the story Valerie Clarizio did a phenomenal job and she has found a fan in me

Love love love Nick Spinelli in this holiday detective series A goody two shoes social worker is partnered with a tough thick skinned detective Nick Spinelli is hot sexy and funny He ries unsuccessfully to use his usual wit and charm to win the girl He strikes out He dons a Santa suit Bingo But the suit brings trouble than just the girl The story has the flavor of the old 1950's detective movies but modern day I would have preferred action great scenes at the end but I'll look forward to that in the next book Spinelli's character was spot on and well developed Hopefully we'll get to know Shannon better in the seuel I heard a third is coming out this year I love Clarizio's style and look forward to seeing how she progresses with this series

This is the first book I have read by Valerie J Clarizio and while I enjoyed the story I was expect of a mystery Nick was great with his neurotic behaviors but the endless lust for Shannon became a little much for this reader Shannon came across as this sweet woman but when she swear its it a little funny but what is best is Shannon has a back bone and won't be pushed by the Alpha Male The suspense was well written keeping readers intrigued The story had a few places where it seem to drag and the story is all from Nicks POV with a little of Shannon's thrown inAdvance Cop from Netgalley for my honest thoughts

I loved this book It was a uick enjoyable sexy read Ms Clarizio knows how to build romance so that it's not just meaningless sex inserted into a story You can feel the attraction between the Detective Spinelli and the Red haired beauty Shannon O'Hara She makes the detective than just a tough guy but a man who was raised with pain and anger and knows about the seedy part of life Shannon is the intelligent beauty who puts children's well being before everything else The author is very good at building a story that comes to a satisfying end

This story grew on me as I read it Nick Spinelli is a fun character to follow and the book is written mainly from his viewpoint As a male and a fan of the romance genre I always enjoy the rare romance told from the male viewpoint Nick and Shannon are very true to character as polar opposites and it’s entertaining to see them fight the attraction they feel for each other Even with the Christmas theme I found this a fun summer read The seuel is going on my TBR list

More romance than mysterySure in the beginning there were two murders but then it was all about Shannon and Nick I was about 80% through the book before the mystery part resurfacedOne part really bugged me Shannon was basically comatose with worry about her nephews in one scene then when she describes it to her boss it took everything she had not to jump Spinelli ???????

Just okThe first book I read by this author was good The female lead did need help and some rescuing but not because she was weak The characters just weren’t uite as good in this one and the story was a little weak
